Our Story

HOW WE MET

In 2016, fate would have it that we both ended up in a small, windowless office, interning for the same nonprofit in Washington, DC. Over the course of those first three months, we would casually chat, trade jokes, and draw silly doodles on Post-it notes to each other. One day, Daniel got up the courage to send Carolee a Facebook message asking if she wanted to visit the National Gallery of Art. Daniel would like to note that Carolee didn't think it was a date, but little did she know (it was)... and we've been carousing and critiquing works of the 16th-century Italian Renaissance ever since!

THE PROPOSAL

While in Paris, we planned to wake up (very) early to visit Sacré Coeur. When we arrived, we were greeted with a breathtaking sunrise all to ourselves. While walking the empty cobblestone streets around the Cathedral, across from the quiet Square de la Turlure, Daniel got down on one knee and proposed. Despite it being 7 a.m., we were startled by the loud cheers of a passing jogger and some members of the French military!
